A BUDDING filmmaker from Shanklin hopes a seven-second film recreating a scene from her favourite movie will win her a national competition.

Penny Hutchinson, 19, of Hyde Road, produced a film with fellow University of Portsmouth student, Louise Jones, inspired by the 1980 blockbuster, The Shining, which starred Jack Nicholson.

The hospital management students made the film as part of the Seven Second Movie competition, run by software company, Windows, which is offering a VIP trip to a film premiere for the winners.

"Everybody knows The Shining so we wanted to get the three most memorable scenes together, which basically ended in me bursting through a door screaming 'Here’s Johnny’," said Penny.

Judges will decided from hundreds of films and the winning entry will be screened to a live audience at the premiere of The First Grader, on October 26.
