WITH the weather finally conspiring to allow Eton Manor to play their first game in six weeks, they scored a fine 15-14 win in a match at Upminster.

After a 20-20 draw earlier in the season, both sets of players expected a close game, and were not disappointed.

Manor started the stronger of the two sides but sloppy finishing denied them early points. The deadlock wasn't broken until the 20th minute when Greg Anderson claimed three points with a penalty.

Upminster responded with three penalty kicks of their own and looked to be going into the second half with a 9-3 lead. But a display of awesome running by Paul Brunsden saw the Manor man cross the Upminster line for an unconverted try.

The second half was a very tight affair but the deadlock was broken after 20 minutes with an unconverted Upminster try. Manor threw caution to the wind in the search for a winning try and it came in the final minute when Simon Logan crashed over the line.

Greg Anderson didn't crack under the pressure and converted the try, leaving the final score at 15-14 to Manor.

This Saturday Eton Manor host Mersea Island, kick-off is at 2.15pm.
