COMMUNITY-owned Shanklin Theatre has received £5,000 in the latest round of small grants announced by the Theatres Trust.
The grant, one of a handful awarded to theatres around the country, will be used towards brickwork on the Grade II-listed theatre’s fly tower.
The building is owned and managed by the Shanklin Theatre and Community Trust, established in 2010 by local supporters to take over the management of the theatre from IW Council control.
The Theatre Royal Stratford East, London; the Players Theatre, Thame; the Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells; and Blackpool’s Grand Theatre were other grant recipients in the latest payouts.
The Theatres Trust is the national advisory public body for theatres, set up to promote the better protection of theatres.
