MUSICIAN Paul Armfield has launched a new club night dedicated to "quiet music for even quieter audiences."
SHHH is due to make its debut tomorrow (Saturday) at the back room of the Castle Inn, Newport with live performances from two acts.
Island band Blackhouse Crow will open, followed by brother and sister act Max and Laura Braun from Stuttgart.
Paul said: "Max and Laura are just one of the many wonderful acts I have met whilst on tour myself in Europe; for a long time I’ve been wanting to invite some of these performers to the Island but have been unable to think of a venue that would suit such intimate music.
"I was also a little frustrated that some of the great acts I’m seeing on the Island are not getting a chance to perform to a wholly attentive audience where their subtleties can be appreciated. In the end I decided to do it myself and start SHHH."
Paul said he planned to hold the event every two months and to always feature a mix of local and visiting talent. Already lined up for August are Dutch solo artist Kim Janssen and German troubadour Jan Kubon.
Doors open at 8.00pm.
