Shaftesbury Barnet's women finished fifth in the Jubilee Cup final at Bedford on Sunday.

They were without Catherine Murphy, who was competing in the British Grand Prix at Crystal Palace as well as Lyn Sprules and Shani Anderson, contesting the Bedford International Games.

Simmone Jacobs was injured.

Lucy Elliott scored a fine win in the 3,000m (9min 23.21sec) and Julie Dunkley was successful in the shot with 15.74m.

Celia Browne (400m hurdles, 61.32sec) and Lynne Gallagher (1500m, 4min 30.18sec) were both third.

Nadia Williams showed fine club spirit, competing in four events in a busy afternoon.

She achieved a personal best of 11.40m when fourth in the triple jump, was close to her best in the long jump with 5.70m, ran in the 4 x 400m relay and filled a gap in the team by contesting the high jump.

Shaftesbury Barnet's Robert Mitchell and Lyn Sprules were both winners in the Bedford International games on Sunday.

Mitchell won the high jump (2.12m) and Sprules took the hammer with a throw of 62.26m.

Another winner was Barnet resident Jo Fenn, successful in the 800m in 2min 08.3sec.

Shaftesbury's Shani Anderson was fourth in the 100m (11.61sec) and 200m (23.73sec).
