Scooter rider Sam Dickinson, 15, tries out the ramps at The Drop. Picture by Robin Crossley.
THE DROP, the Isle of Wight’s first dedicated indoor skatepark, opened at the weekend and hundreds of skaters and riders hit the ramps.
The purpose-built park has been created at an industrial unit on the Riverway Estate, Newport, and about 350 people turned-out for its opening day on Saturday.
James Spalding, one of those behind the project, said: "It was fantastic and the park went down really well with the skaters. We had people saying it was the best park they had ridden."
Among those to try out the park were skaters from the Wight Trash team and Rapanui.
