I think we have now crossed into fantasy 'what if' country. I appreciate that sensible precautions need to be taken and there are rules which govern H&S in public places. My take on this is that when there is snow we close the schools - automatic response. It was probably more risky to send children home yesterday afternoon. Over and out!

How many shops, factories and offices are full of children? Assuming parental responsibility for other peoples children is a weighty consideration. Consider this; a school with 200 4-11 year olds with only half the teachers and a fire breaks out, those children have to be marshalled outside and accounted for in under 2 minutes. Do you want to try it? Take responsibility for it? Be sensible please gentlemen.

How many shops, offices, factories etc. etc. have closed because of the snow?

We are told that statistically most accidents happen in the home. Making kids stay at home is obviously dangerous! Best get them outside. Oh, no that's dangerous too. Where can we go to be safe?

I reiterate what Carole Bailey said - please stop knocking the teachers. It isn't the teachers who make the decisions, as I wrote here yesterday. The teachers would gladly go in, otherwise they've then got to catch up with all the learning that has been planned for and missed. And it's also not the teachers who make the healthy and safety rules either!
