A SNOW warning for the Isle of Wight has been extended by the Met Office.

The 'be aware' warning is now in place for the rest of today (Monday) until 9am tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Met Office said: "Further snow showers, and, in the south, including the Isle of Wight, some longer spells of snow, are expected through the rest of today and overnight. Snow will be accompanied by a strong northeasterly wind which will accentuate the very cold feel and cause lying snow to drift.

"For the most part only small amounts of snow are likely to settle on roads during the daytime, but from around dusk accumulations of 2 to 5 cm of snow could occur in places, with a low risk of 5 to 10 cm for southern parts of Sussex and Kent overnight."

"The public are advised to be aware of the risk of disruption to travel."
