Solent swim to help Tibet

Joe Briscoe plans to swim the Solent in aid of theTibet Relief Trust and West Wight Sports Centre.

FILMMAKER and teacher Joe Briscoe is taking the plunge for charity, hoping to raise cash for good causes by swimming the Solent.

Joe, who has in the past supported the West Wight Solent Swim, by filming it and helping to raise awareness has decided to swap the camera for a wet suit this year.

He will be raising money for the Tibet Relief Fund and the West Wight Sports Centre, which organises the event, on July 6.

"After years of filming other crazy people do it, I have decided that this is the year I am going to swim the Solent myself," said Joe, a teacher at Carisbrooke College.

Joe chose the Tibet Relief Fund, having previously spent time in the country and witnessing the difficult circumstances in which many people live.
