Albury 184 all out, Richmond Town 114 for 9

Eve Surrey Championship

Albury enjoyed the afternoon fine weather and then Town went out to bat in the rain and made a very poor start losing five wickets for 49. Aggression by Tony Reynolds produced useful runs but when last man David Ransley joined Graham Standen there were still 11 overs remaining. Between them they performed the great escape to give Town a tight-rope draw.

The second team game, Albury away was a washout due to thunderstorms.

Richmond Town II

97 all out

Datchet II 98 for 7

On a damp wicket Town struggled for runs and were soon in deep trouble and it was not until number nine Frank Jeal stepped in to stop a record low total, Jeal and colt Andy Ward put on 50 runs but the final score reached only 97 and that included a very handy 23 extras.

Town were soon among the wickets and claimed seven before Datchet finally won a slow low scoring game with only a few overs remaining.
