ABOUT the matter of Bromley Council spending £1m to move three holes on a golf course to accommodate a school on the Magpie Hall Lane green belt site, this should be a reminder that a new school could be situated outside the green belt at Goddington Meadow, albeit with its playing fields in Goddington Park.

However, the council and the Rochester Diocese introduced a further requirement, over and above a new school, that it should be designed to allow the greatest degree of community involvement.

Although some community use might be possible at Goddington Meadow, the restricted nature of this site would limit this.

Both Magpie Hall Lane and Blue Circle sites are green belt, Goddington Meadow, is not.

Some community use would be possible at Goddington Meadow, stopping the need to remove three holes from the golf course or entailing, on the Blue Circle site, a significant housing development which itself would, of course, generate more demand for school places!
