THE beheading of a cat in Southsea has been linked to a similar incident on the Isle of Wight.
Hampshire Police are investigating the killing of a cat in Marmion Road, Southsea, overnight on 16 April, into 17 April.
Officers have linked the incident to two other killings, one on July 22 2016, into July 23, in Avenue Road, Sandown, and another on April 3, into April 4 in Atlanta Close, Southsea.
The cat from Sandown, called Fleabag, was also beheaded.
Speaking to the County Press at the time, Fleabag's owners - who wished to remain anonymous - said: "He was such a special little chap, very loving and so trusting and friendly. He was so comical. I will miss the laughter and loving cuddles he gave.
"I am devastated by his brutal passing and cannot express my great sadness."
The attacks have been linked to incidents across the country and were said to have been carried out by the 'M25/Croydon cat killer'.
Sgt Tony Jeacock, of Hampshire Police, said: "I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating the incident and following all possible leads.
"I would encourage anyone who is aware of any other cats that have been killed, to call 101."
