Squirrel in need of a name

Quarr Abbey's new squirrel mascot.

A COMPETITION has been launched to name the red squirrel mascot that will spearhead Quarr Abbey’s environmental campaign.

As part of the abbey’s Heritage Lottery Fund activity plan, it is introducing children’s Explorer kits with a red squirrel as its lead character.

The habitat near Quarr is rich in wildlife — including squirrels — and the family activity packs being developed will be filled with fun things to make, discover and do in the great outdoors.

Entries can be handed in at the abbey cafe
