NEARLY £50,000 of equipment has been handed to Island schools, thanks to a supermarket campaign.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids was launched in 2005 to improve children’s health by providing sports, cooking and gardening equipment to youth groups.

Among those to benefit on the Island was Christ the King College, which received £1,1841 of equipment.

Store manager Paul Dyer said: "Active Kids is a fantastic way for us to support schools and youth groups in our community."

A further £300 of equipment will also to be handed out to schools, following a recent campaign.
