DOZENS of properties on the Isle of Wight have been left without power following storm St Jude.
A spokeswoman for Scottish and Southern Energy said more than 82,000 of its customers had lost power across the UK as a result of the storm.
She said the Isle of Wight had escaped the worst of the damage, but said around 60 properties in the Atherfield area were still without electricity.
"A lot of trees have come down on our equipment and power lines. Before engineers can carry out repairs they have to cut back the trees, which means it takes some time," said the spokeswoman.
She said they hoped to restore power to the Isle of Wight homes this afternoon (Monday).
