TWO students have been appointed to senior roles at the Isle of Wight Green Party.

Boosting the youth contingent, Cameron Palin and Charlie Button were elected to the executive at the party's AGM on Saturday.

Charlie, who sits on the national LGBTIQ committee and Young Greens executive, was appointed equality officer, and Cameron, a Ryde Arena and floating bridge campaigner, as the Young Greens officer.

The meeting, held at the Riverside Centre, saw chairman Daniel James re-elected.

Highlighting the party's achievements during the last year, he said: "We recorded the second highest Green result across the nation in June. In only three years we have secured our position as one of the strongest local parties in the entire country, and should be rightly proud of our success."
