Chairman of the Mill Hill Preservation Society John Turtle has written to the Government Office for London this week following speculation that Barnet Football Club chairman Tony Kleanthous is to take over Stevenage Borough, with a possible change to Barnet's league status.
But the story has been denied as 'rubbish' by Mr Kleanthous.
He has said, as a last resort, if Stevenage were to be shut down they could merge with Barnet to form Barnet and Stevenage FC. But this would be a name-only arrangement and would involve no league change or move to Stevenage.
