RIO came to Ryde on Saturday for the annual Mardi Gras.
Despite gloomy weather predictions the sun shone on the Isle of Wight party, organised by the New Carnival Company and sponsored by the Isle of Wight County Press, as part of the town’s arts festival.
More than 750 young people and adults from 25 schools and community groups took part in the main parade and at Eastern Gardens there was a range of entertainment.
Thousands turned out to watch, lining the centre of town as the parade made its way from Ryde School to the Esplanade.
