Southgate 118 Barnet 119-3

Middlesex County League Division Two

Barnet won in convincing style at The Walker Ground on Saturday.

On a wicket that seemed unlikely to help the bowlers, Baqar Ritzvi soon struck, having opener Foster well caught by Faron Defreitas.

Runs almost dried up with Leon Roberts bowling his 10 overs for only 15.

Ritzvi (3-45) took the first three wickets and spinner Sami Haider (6-25) cleaned up as Southgate were 118 all out.

Deepak Singh and skipper Anouj Vadgama shared an opening stand of 54. Ritzvi hit out with 33 off 36 balls, before Defreitas steered Barnet to their third league win.

One of Southgate Compton CC's long-standing members, Jack Spring, sadly died last year.

In recognition of the tremendous contribution Jack made to the club over many years and the deep respect felt for him, a match against Cockfosters is to be dedicated to his memory.

The game takes place at Hadley Field, Cockfosters, on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
