Isle of Wight surfer Lee Sheaf.
THE Isle of Wight’s surfing community will be paying tribute to one of its favourite sons, Lee Sheaf, who died of cancer in June.
Surfers plan a mass paddle out at Whitecliff on Sunday, September 29.
Tribute organiser Chris Mannion, one of Lee’s surfing friends, asks all those attending to arrive early for the prompt 5pm start.
He said: "Parking is limited, so please bear this in mind so we can all get on the water together to pay our respects to the big man. Looking at the forecast, there could be an onshore wave at Whitecliff, which would be amazing.
"It would be really nice if we could all bring something that is environmentally friendly, such as flowers, that we could take out with us into the water.
"I think this would be a really nice touch and we can all give a little message to Sheaffy in our own way.
"Let’s all make this a really upbeat affair and we look forward to seeing as much of the surfing community as possible."
