UPDATED 15:35*

A ROYAL Navy bomb disposal team has been called to the Isle of Wight this morning (Tuesday) after a suspicious object was spotted in the sea.

The team was called to Ventnor after the object was reported to the Coastguard.

A Royal Navy spokeswoman said the team was waiting until low tide, before it would deal with the item.

*It was confirmed shortly after 3pm that the item was a piece of scrap metal.
