Take a chance for Chelsea

Isle of Wight youngster Chelsea Turner.

AN ISLE of Wight optician is hosting an in-store gameshow to raise money for a little girl born with brain damage.

Chelsea Turner, who is approaching her first birthday, was born with two bleeds on her brain and has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and severely impaired vision.

Her parents, Matthew and Angie Turner, hope to raise £7,000 to build a sensory nursery at their Sandown home.

In a bid to help the fundraising effort, Specsavers is hosting a game of 'deal or steal' at its Newport store.

Until the end of February, customers will be invited to donate £2 in exchange for a gift, which they will be able to keep or gamble for another, potentially better gift. Prizes up for grabs include pairs of designer glasses.

Reception supervisor Jodie Ashman said: "Deal or steal is a fun way of raising money for a very special Isle of Wight resident. As a result of her condition, Chelsea has experienced problems with her eyesight, which makes her cause all the more relevant to us."
