Dagenham & Redbridge 1 - St. Albans City 1.

(Ryman Premier League).

Daggers continue to frustrate manager Ted Hardy with their inconsistent form, which has seen promotion slip away, writes Chris Bevan. The points should have been sewn up long before St.Albans managed their late equaliser to escape with a draw at Victoria Road on Saturday."We never seem to pick up where we leave off," complained Hardy, who saw his side follow up their emphatic 5-0 midweek win over Harrow with this unconvincing display."We had all the possession in the first half, and all the chances in the second, but we're only scoring spectacular goals. Nobody is getting the tap-ins," bemoaned the Daggers boss.Daggers had made their seemingly customary bad start, and with more composure in front of goal St.Albans could easily have led by two or three inside the first ten minutes. The visitors were out to impress their new manager Gary Hill, but couldn't keep up their whirlwind start. The Reds slowly, but surely, came back into things, and Danny Shipp and Paul Cobb both went close. It wasn't until the second half that the breakthrough came. Sam Bass was hauled down as he attempted to meet a corner for a blatant penalty. Paul Cobb stepped up and he made no mistake from the spot for his 28th goal of the season.Unfortunately, it just wasn't to be for the Daggers, as they continued to control the match but couldn't add to their solitary goal. They gifted St.Albans their equaliser, when a harmless free-kick wasn't cleared and Sam Bass and John Nicholson both hesitated allowing Justin Gentle to nip in to give the visitors a share of the points."We lost concentration at the end, that ball ought to have been cleared," said Hardy. "What the players have to understand is that at 1-0 you have to keep your concentration."Ilford 4 East Ham 0(Essex Senior League)CASEY Grylles helped himself to a hat-trick of goals on Monday night as Ilford stretched their winning sequence to give the fans a treat in their last home game of the season. The three goals took Grylles tally to four in his last three games but with the score 0-0 at half-time nobody could have expected the second half fireworks.Within the first ten minutes they found themselves 3-0 ahead after Grylles had netted twice with a curling shot and deftly placed strike. McGillicuddy smashed home the third from a 30- yard free kick.Grylles bagged his third in the 84th minute from Woodlock's cross. The two sides meet again on April 4.On Saturday, Ilford won 2-0 at Sawbridgeworth, avenging the 1-0 reverse at Cricklefields earlier in the season.Last year they beat Sawbo 6-0 and although this game was never going to produce the same sort of scoreline, the Foxes were always in control. The first scorer of the goal could not have been more apt, Barry Fox lashing home the ball on 38 minutes just days after the new nickname of Foxes had been adopted. The second came five minutes after the break when Houssain eluded his marker to convert McGillicuddy's cross.
