A CONSULTATION process starts today (Friday) for a new unit in Cowes for Isle of Wight children with behaviour, social and emotional difficulties (BESD).
The site at Love Lane would be for a maximum of 25 children and young people with BESD, who have been excluded or are in danger of exclusion from mainstream school or those who are returning from mainland placements and who need intensive support before returning to schools on the Island.
In July, a decision was made under delegated powers by Cllr Dawn Cousins, the Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for children’s services and education, to undertake further consultation on the proposals.
A meeting is scheduled at Lanesend Primary School on October 3, for parents of children at Lanesend Primary and Little Love Lane Nursery and Pre-School.
