STUDENTS and colleagues today paid tribute to a Medina College teacher who died after collapsing from a suspected heart attack suffered during a lesson.

A series of assemblies were held in honour of Chris Wilkins, who taught ICT, government and politics at the sixth form and was tutor to Year 8.

He became ill while teaching at the Island Innovation Trust Sixth Form Campus at Nodehill and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he died.

A statement from the college said: "Chris was a witty, intelligent, well-liked and respected teacher who will be sadly missed by all the staff and students at Medina College.

"Chris was 49 years old and leaves behind a wife and two sons, one in Year 9 at Medina and a second in Year 6, who will be joining us next year.

"Our thoughts, love and best wishes are with them all."
