A TEAM of dogs jumped to the aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on Sunday.
Newfound Friends, a team of Newfoundland dogs trained to rescue people from the water, returned to the Island, having visited for the first time last year, raising thousands for the hospice.
This year 25 plucky participants — including one who travelled down from Luton to take part — braved the River Medina, near the Folly, each taking turns to jump into the water and be pulled to safety by the powerful pooches, which can weigh around 15 stone.
Karen Eeles, community fundraiser at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, said: "Hopefully we have raised about £3,000."
