BUS passengers will find it easier than ever to travel across the Isle of Wight — thanks to new technology unveiled by Southern Vectis.

Andrew Turner MP was among the first to use the firm’s new smartcard facility, which allows passengers to register for instant access to the popular electronic ticket.

Managing director Andrew Wickham said: "Previously, anyone wishing to register for The Key had to do so online and then wait 48 hours for initial delivery.

"The new facility in our travel shop at Newport Bus Station allows people to walk in and get their card straight away."

The Key enables holders to board any Southern Vectis service and passengers can top up online or in the travel shop.
