AVRO Parts St John Passion, which was due to be performed at All Saints, Bisham on Saturday has had to be cancelled. The lead chorister of the Chapel Choir of Hertford College, Oxford who was coming to Bisham to help perform the work fell and cracked his ribs. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for a replacement to take over the role.

BEN Paternoster has been promoted to head chorister at All Saints Church. He succeeds Stephen Buss who left the choir after five years in January. Geraint Evans becomes the deputy head and Daniel Ross has been appointed senior chorister.

At last Sunday's service Geraint Evans was awarded his red ribbon and Tom Smart and Jack Weeden won their light blue ribbons.

BUS passes and tokens are being issued at the Area Information Office in the High Street from Monday and the staff are requesting applicants try to bring the correct money in order to save queuing. Photographs will be needed but if necessary current pass photographs may be used.

FATHER Ben Ngoako and his wife Abigail from All Saints link church of St James, Geleshewe, Kimberley in South Africa will attend the 9.30am Mothering Sunday service at the Causeway Parish Church this Sunday. Parishioners will have the opportunity to meet the couple, who are on holiday in Marlow, at an extended coffee break following the service.

A MODEL of producer Andrew Stafford's set for the Marlow Operatic Society's production of Yeoman of Guard is on view at the Institute Road library. There is still time to catch the company's latest Gilbert & Sullivan presentation. It is being performed at the Shelley Theatre tonight and on Saturday evening at 7.30pm. THERE is a change of speaker at the Marlow & District Horticultural Society's March meeting on Tuesday evening. Geoff Burnett will now be visiting Liston Hall to give members an audio-visual presentation about the Bucks countryside. It is at 8pm.

One of the perks of membership to the society is the discount on horticultural items at local shops and at its own trading hut in Dedmere Rise every Saturday until May between10am and midday. Sales are restricted to members.

DENNIS Sargeant and Mike Jackson stand down as chairman and vice-chairman of the Marlow Town Twinning Association when the 21st AGM and dinner is held at Liston Hall on Saturday evening. Mr Jackson has been the MTTA second in command since the association was formed in 1980, while Mr Sargeant became a committee member in 1985, accepting the chair two years later. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the official Twinning Accord between Marlow and Marly-le-Roi.

THE impressive displays of daffodils at entrances to the town welcoming visitors and residents are a reminder of the unsung, but much appreciated, work of Marlow Rotary Club. Its public profile is raised on Saturday when, for the third successive year, it presents the High Wycombe Music Centre Youth Orchestra in a charity concert at All Saints Church. Tickets should be available for the concert of light classical works at the door but to make certain of a seat pop into the Tourist Office in the High Street. Conductor Malcolm Pollock wields his baton over the music of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bizet and Wagner from 7.30pm.

FOUR Crazy Gang Fun Club sessions are scheduled at Court Garden Leisure Complex to keep youngsters occupied in the Easter holidays. The supervised play schemes are suitable for boys and girls aged five to 11, cost £6.50 for three hours, and will take place on Tuesday, March 26 and Tuesday, April 2 at 9am and on Wednesday, March 27 and Wednesday, April 3 at 2pm. HAVING secured planning consent for their Cornerstone project to redevelop Quoitings Square, churchgoers of Christ Church are holding a jumble sale at Liston Hall on Saturday week to contribute towards the final £50,000 needed for the building work. It is at 2.30pm and entrance is 30p. As well as good-as-new clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac will be sold.
