ELYSE Ong claimed a national gymnastics title for the second year in succession at The Spectrum Leisure Centre in Guildford.

The Dartford star excelled at bar, beam, vault and floor to take the British 10-year-old gymnastics crown.

Gymnastics becomes competitive when participants reach the age of nine so Elyse has been faultless so far.

Elyse trains with Alderwood Gymnsatics Club at Bromley Valley Gymnastics Centre in St Paul's Cray.

The club also had several other young ladies competing in the national finals.

They were: Ellen McCarthy, Josie Rees, Rachel Arnheim, Claire Smith, Katie Khosla and Rosanna Smee.

Last weekend the club was also well represented in the British Regional Champion-ships, also held in Guildford.

The South east team won levels four, three and two.

Among the fine efforts by club members representating the area, was a second from Gemma Raison in the 13-plus age group, while Sarah Kemp also took silver in the 11-12 year-old section. Both were achieved at level three.

In the second level category Megan Catt, was also a runner-up in the 14-plus group, while Carly Metcalf acquited herself well in the 12-13 section.

Meanwhile, in the World School Games, Rachelle Doug-lass helped Great Britain to fourth place in the team event and also reached the final of the bar exercise in the individual competition.
