A Borehamwood ju-jitsu club has been busy making a television documentary in the Algarve, being written about in a book and training with Croatians -- and still had time for 30 of its members to go up a grade.

Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu, which is based at The Hawksmoor Centre, Potters Lane, will be on our screens in October, having recently finished filming the three-part programme about their martial art.

Goodwill Productions, the company which filmed them, then went on to write a book about the club, which is to be published later this year.

"We have been so busy," said founder and chief instructor Kevin Pell.

"We have hardly had time to do anything else. Training with the Croatian people was great. We did it to forge links with their country really and had a great time too."

Most recently, a grading took place, and members from beginners to purple belts achieved a higher grade.

Next on the agenda is a party in February to celebrate its 8th anniversary.

But between now and then, the club's 232 members will just concentrate on improving their skills.

Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu, which is a non-competitive club, always welcomes new members. Telephone 0836 589038.
