Streatham Braves U14s were served notice of the hard work that still lies ahead of them this season when they slipped to a 9-1 defeat at the hands of the Isle of White on Sunday.

A five goal onslaught in the first period at the Streatham Ice Arena by the well-drilled visiting team sent the Braves reeling,

although they battled back well in the second period.

The highlight for the home side came in the second period when defenceman Fred Carnegy scored the goal of the game.

After picking up the puck deep in his own zone, he waltzed past three Isle of Wight players before beating the goalie with a neat shot just inside the near post.

Man of the match for Streatham in this English Ice Hockey Association Southern B League game was Daryl Thomas, and the spirit of the match award went to Nick McCluskie.
