A DAY of fundraising events kick-started this year’s Isle of Pink campaign in Newport at the beginning of the month.

Isle of Pink runs throughout September, with the aim of raising money for the Breast Cancer Campaign in the bid to find a cure.

In St Thomas’s Square, volunteers held collections and sold badges, pins and bracelets to help raise money for the cause.

Singer Lewis Berry livened up proceedings with a selection of hits, while youngsters from the Dance Vibez group performed routines in the town and children were able to have their faces painted.

• There are many pink events taking place across the Island this month. If you are holding an event, let us know by e-mailing editor@iwcp.co.uk
