A GRANDAD is set to put his best foot forward for charity by hiking 70 miles around the Island to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Tim Taylor, 51, of Maybrick Road, Binstead, has been training half an hour a day to prepare for his epic adventure, which is due to begin on September 30.
Mr Taylor, a care worker with Wightcare, is undertaking his walk to help his 18-month-old grandson, Jay Smith, who was diagnosed with the crippling condition when he was just six weeks old.
Mr Taylor aims to walk ten miles a day to complete his journey.
He said: "It was a big shock when Jay was diagnosed. I have been training for half an hour every night after I finish work since Christmas. I am aiming to walk ten miles a day. The main thing is that it will be a continuous walk each day."
Tim will be collecting for the charity while he goes round the Isle of Wight and anyone who sees him can donate cash. You can also donate by logging onto the www.virginmoneygiving.com/timothytaylor website.
