It's turning into a real nail biter at the top of the Ryman Premiership after Kingstonian dropped three points, and lost their unbeaten record of 1998.

Struggling Yeading pulled off the shock of the day with a late goal to defeat the title favourites at Kingsmeadow.

The writing was on the wall midway through the first half as an under par Ks were gifted, then missed, a glorious chance to calm their nerves.

David Leworthy was through on the keeper with plenty of time and space. But the normally reliable forward failed to convert the chance.

The longer the game went on the less likely it seemed the home side would score. They had failed to take advantage of a strong wind behind them in the first half, and found the going even more difficult in the second half.

Ks boss Geoff Chapple was furious with his players, and is expecting a vast improvement in the performance when they take on Oxford City away tomorrow.

"It's a major blip. There were some people who looked suicidal after the result," he said.

Fortunately main rivals Boreham Wood could only draw against Sutton. They still have two games in hand, and will go just one point behind if they with both of them.
