Top cop cleared of misconduct

THE CHIEF Constable of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police, Andy Marsh, has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an independent investigation by Essex Police into misconduct allegations against him.

Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Hayes, launched the investigation after complaints were made to him about Mr Marsh and his handling of a sex abuse investigation at Stainbridge Earls School near Romsey, Hampshire.

Mr Hayes said: "Having previously stated my absolute confidence in Chief Constable Marsh, I welcome this news."

Mr Marsh added: "I welcome the outcome of the investigation and would like to thank everybody for their support in recent months."
