COUNCILLORS will resign their membership of a "junket" club which costs Bromley taxpayers £61,000 a year.
Tory councillors voted to give the required one year's notice to leave the Local Government Association (LGA), a lobbying group which acts on behalf of councils.
Tories have branded the LGA as a "junket" club which fails to provide members with any real benefit.
Councillor George Taylor, who represents the Shortlands ward, said: "The LGA is nothing more than a junket club. Local residents and their services are our priority.
"We will not waste their money on the questionable membership of a club for local authorities."
