A TOURIST was taken to hospital, yesterday (Sunday) after she rolled 120ft down a steep slope at Alum Bay car park.

The drama took place at around midday when the woman stumbled over the slope at a restricted part of the site and could not get back up the hill.

She was initially helped by a member of staff from the nearby Needles Park. Needles and Ventnor coastguards eventually put the woman on to a spinal board and pulled her back up the slope, a coastguard spokesman said.

She was then taken to St Mary’s Hospital by paramedics. Freshwater Inshore Lifeboat was also called to the scene as a precaution.
