WITH less than two days to go, the Christmas Toy Appeal is nearing it’s target.
The appeal, set up by parents Deborah and Daniel Rooke with support from the Bestival Foundation charity, has seen 1,073 toys donated so far. They hope 1,200 toys will have been donated by Friday.
The toys will be presented to Isle of Wight children, from babies to 16 years old, including those living in poverty, suffering with life-limiting illnesses, child carers, and those spending Christmas in hospital.
Deborah said: "Daniel and I would like to thank all those who have donated so far, and remind anyone who hasn't that there is still time.
"With so many children who could benefit from this appeal, we want to have one really big push for the final week to see if we can beat our target."
The appeal, supported by Bestival curator Rob da Bank, the Isle of Wight County Press, and Isle of Wight Radio, has drop-off points for presents across the Island which are accepting new and unwrapped donations until noon on Friday.
