Toy Appeal smashes target

THE ISLE of Wight Christmas Toy Appeal has smashed its target this morning (Friday), collecting 3,333 toys for deserving Isle of Wight children so far — and the final figure could be even higher.

The deadline for toys does not end until noon, however organisers have already confirmed they have topped their 2,500 target.

Appeal organiser and founder Daniel Rooke said: "We're overwhelmed and blown away and we're genuinely moved and humbled by how everyone has taken the appeal to their hearts.

"When me and Deborah started the appeal last year we thought 500 toys might be unachievable, but to collect more than six times that amount this year is absolutely incredible.

"This year's appeal has been bigger and better and so widely supported and now we just have to think about wrapping it all!"

Toys can be donated until noon to the official drop off points including the Isle of Wight County Press, Isle of Wight Radio and Toymaster, Ryde.

For more information visit the appeal's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/christmastoyappeal or follow on Twitter @ToyAppeal.
