FERRY companies will run revised timetables over the coming days, due to the Isle of Wight Festival.

Wightlink has warned customers to expect crossings to be extremely busy coming to the Island tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday, and leaving the Island on Monday.

Earlier this week Red Funnel announced extra sailings during the festival weekend.

Wightlink has issued the following advice for passengers:

Check in:

Please be advised that vehicles will not be accepted onto any of our terminals until 30 minutes prior to your booked departure time on Thursday, June 21 and Friday, June 22 from the mainland, and on Monday, June 25 from the Island.

Foot passengers should allow extra time if catching trains.

Please allow extra time if collecting tickets.

Regular Foot Passenger Commuters:

During the Isle of Wight Festival period (June 21-25), foot passenger season ticket and multilink foot passenger ticket holders will be treated as reserved passengers, however to guarantee boarding, holders will be required to 'check-in' at the terminal, a minimum of 15 minutes prior to their scheduled departure.

Foot passenger general information:

There are no onward public transport connections from Fishbourne Terminal.

The bus stop is situated at the end of Fishbourne Lane, approx 1 mile from the Terminal. Foot passengers are advised to use the Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head catamaran service.

Customers are advised that there will be limited space for foot passengers on car ferry departures from Yarmouth on Monday, June 25.

Ryde Pier Closure - June 21, 22 and 25:

Please be advised that Ryde Pier will be closed to all vehicles on Thursday, June 21, Friday, June 22 and Monday, June 25 Jas follows:

Thursday and Friday (June21-22) - restricted access 10am to 6pm hours

Monday, June 25 - closed from 8am to 10pm

Season ticket holders (with car park pemits) will be permitted access until 8am on Thursday, Friday and Monday, or to those customers with vehicles already parked at the Pier Head.

Wightlink apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Southern Vectis bus tickets to the Isle of Wight Festival:

Southern Vectis bus tickets can be purchased in advance (with a Wightlink foot passenger ticket) for the festival.

If you wish to purchase them then please ask at the ticket office desk or by calling our call centre. If you have already booked your foot passenger crossing with us then you can add a bus ticket onto your existing booking by calling our call centre.

Isle of Wight Festival bus information to and from the ferry terminals:

Buses will operate at the following times:

Thursday 7am to 2am

Friday 7am to 2am

Saturday 07am to 2am

Sunday 7am t0 noon on Monday

Between the festival bus station and the following ferry terminals:

Yarmouth (bus station)

Ryde (bus station)

These buses only sell single tickets which are £6 per person and payable only in cash (children pay half price).

Rover and Freedom passes are accepted (but not sold) on these buses.

Through tickets sold by Wightlink are also accepted.

Southern Vectis normal bus routes:

Normal routes will operate as usual, except that routes 5, 9 and 25 leaving Newport, which will not pass the festival site due to the one way traffic system. The Newport Shuttle connects Newport bus station (opposite Morrisons and Marks & Spencer) to the festival bus station for a flat fare of £3 per person.

Buses will be subject to delays across the Island as a result of diversions in Newport, festival traffic congestion, and at busy times you may be unable to board the first bus.

Well thanks a lot, Just think if you live here you can get preferential treatment on the Hovercrafts though. Typical Southern Vectis.
