Travel agent jobs safe

THE Isle of Wight branch of travel agent Thomas Cook will not be affected by planned closures announced by the company yesterday (Wednesday).

The firm had said it was consulting with staff over plans to close almost 200 branches, but declined to comment on the fate of the Newport branch.

A spokeswoman said today (Thursday) however that the branch would be unaffected by the changes.
