Brent Dolphins swam well to take third place in the hotly-contested Gordon Trophy Gala at Park Road, Hornsey.

Bethnal Green (248 points) won from Chelsea/Kensington (193), Brent Dolphins (171), Haringey (168), Feltham (153) and Acton (130).

Winners for Dolphins were Anne Pollendine (open backstroke); Edward Burton (freestyle and breaststroke); Levi Callinan (U16 butterfly); Luke Zakrzewski (U14 butterfly and freestyle); Jeanine Meehan (open freestyle and butterfly ) and the ladies' open medley and freestyle relay teams, of Meehan, Pollendine, Claire Phillips and Michelle Humphreys.

Second places went to John Saunders (U12 backstroke); Dunstan Walker (U12 freestyle); Zakrzewski (U14 breaststroke); Callinan (U16 breaststroke and freestyle); men's medley and freestyle teams, of Burton, Jon Kirby, Paul Knight and Sunnay Dholakia; the U16 freestyle team of Callinan, Zakrzewski, Stephen Kearney and Dwayne Walker; mixed boys age group medley squadron, of Burton, Callinan, Zakrzewski and James Rose; U14 freestyle team, of Colin Knight, Zakrsewski, John Stanley and Richard Castillo.

Personal best times were recorded by Hannah Dunleavy, Cressida Nnyanzi, Lauren Phillips (freestyle); Louise Brady, Castillo, Paul Knight and Lauren Clifford (backstroke); Atonia Nnyanzi (breaststroke) and Alison Colyle (backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly).

Brent Dolphins' swimmers also performed well in the Ealing Novices Gala.

Louise Brady was fifth in the backstroke, 39-4, and seventh in the freestyle. She also clocked personal bests in the butterfly and breaststroke.

Melanie Humphreys was sixth in the breaststroke, out of over 50 entries.

Cressida Nnyanzi won her freestyle heat in 35-02, and Heather Saunders won her freestyle heat in 38-8, a personal best;

John Saunders was second in the butterfly in 44-0, and the backstroke, 41-0.

There were personal bests for Dunstan Walker in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Adrian Grant was 13th in the freestyle in a best of 38-13, and John Saunders was 12th in the freestyle in 38-12.
