TRIBUTES have been paid to Ursula Sawers, who has died aged 110.
Thought to be the Isle of Wight's oldest woman and the seventh oldest person in Britain, Mrs Sawers moved to the Island in 1948.
In recent years Mrs Sawers lived at Inver House, Bembridge, where she died on January 28.
Activities co-ordinator Sam Howard descrived her as an incredible woman.
"She was always in the party mood. Always up for having a good time and singing.
"She was with us for her 109th and 110th birthdays and she loved celebrating.
"She was always up and at 'em and it was only in the last couple of days that she took to her bed," she said.
