TWO Isle of Wight men facing charges of conspiracy to import cocaine appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday).

Jamie Peter Green, 42, of Newport Road, Yarmouth, whose family owns the Salty’s restaurant in the town, and Daniel Payne, 35, of Albert Road, East Cowes, were both remanded in custody until July 7.

A third man, Veljko Protic, 34, of Croatia, who also faces a charge of conspiracy to import cocaine, was remanded in custody until July 7. All three men indicated not guilty pleas.

The charges follow a drugs bust in Yarmouth last week, where cocaine worth more than £8m was found in the sea near the town.
