THE YOUTH Trust has appealed for fresh donations of sports equipment to help fund its work with young people.

Earlier this year theIsle of Wight Youth Trust opened Sporting Chance, the Isle of Wight’s first specialist charity sports shop, in Town Lane, Newport.

Trust director Eileen Monks said: "Over the past 28 years the Youth Trust has provided advice, information, counselling and support for thousands of young people and, in some cases, their parents or carers.

"Sporting Chance has raised invaluable funds that enable us to keep providing a really important support service. Whether it’s a ping pong set or a Chelsea Football kit we’ll make sure any unwanted items are given a great new home."

She said the charity had been amazed by the generosity of people who donated anything from cross trainers and riding boots to celebrity football shirts and trampolines.

As well as appealing for donations, the trust has also appealed for volunteers to man the shop.
