Potters Bar's swimmers battled hard to earn third place in the Herts Major league meeting at St Albans.

The team notched up seven first places and 30 personal bests, Wray Shewell-Cooper leading the way with victories in the open 100m breast and backstroke races.

Oliver Williams won the U15 100m breaststroke, and Jenny Rose the 100m freestyle, and there were also three relay victories - Chris Nelson, Greg Purkiss, Alex Sturge and Shewell-Cooper in both the open freestyle and medley relays, and the U15 team of Laura Shipperlee, Jenny Rose, Lisa Brittan and Vicky Harry in the freestyle.

Potters Bar's B team, travelled to Hitchin and had three individual winners - Ruth Digby (100m free), Iain Stewart (U15 breast) and Daniel Purkiss (U13 breast), with a total of 31 PBs recorded.

Bar also had eight finalists in the Herts Age Groups. They were: Louise Fairhead (3rd 1987 100m breast, 2nd 100m back); Jenny Rose (4th 1984 100m free); Louise Wood (4th 1982 100m breast, 5th 100m free); Laura Shipperlee (4th 1984 100m back) and Thomas Barnes (4th 1987 fly).
