SOLDIERS, captains, mobsters, navy personnel and even Elvis Presley were among the fancy dressed guests at a charity bash in Bembridge.

The event, which had the theme of Forties and Fities, was at Brading Haven Yacht Club, Embankment Road.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, with wartime dishes. They then jived to music by The Rattle Shakin’ Daddies.

More than £800 was raised and will be added to other money, raised by Bembridge man, Tom Day, 25, who is hoping to climb Everest, in September, for the charity, Childreach International.

His expedition will also take in Nepal to see the work being done by the charity.
