THE twin sisters behind one of the Isle of Wight’s speciality food businesses are set to showcase their recipes on national television.

Kathrine Norris and Margaret Hayes — who sell home-made gluten-free cakes, pasties and quiches through their Carisbrooke-based business, Twins Gluten Free — have gladly accepted an invitation to appear on a new ITV show, Food Glorious Food.

They are set to appear on our screens on Wednesday, showing viewers how to make their favourite recipe, Mum’s Christmas Pudding.

"We were spotted at a food fair in Exeter and invited on the show.

"We’re quite excited about being on TV," said Kathrine.

"It was great fun filming and we met lots of interesting foodie people.

"The whole thing was a great experience and, hopefully, it will be good for business."

Kathrine and Margaret, 61, founded Twins Gluten Free after several family members were diagnosed with coeliac disease, which is an allergy to gluten.

They started baking sweet and savoury dishes for their relatives, and the business grew from there.

The twins are regulars at the Ryde and Newport farmers’ markets, offering a range of wheat, dairy and gluten-free goodies, and their produce is sold at several Island cafes and online, at www.twinsglutenfree.co.uk

Congratulations ladies - but is there anything else on TV these days other than cheap to make food programmes?
