TWO have been arrested after a handgun was discovered in Sandown yesterday (Friday).
Officers attended an address in Downview Road at 3.30pm after a member of the public reported concerns for a man inside.
A 44-year-old man from Godshill was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear and violence. A 47-year-old woman from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled Class B drug.
Both are currently in custody.
While the incident is over, officers will remain on the scene today to carry out further inquiries.
Isle of Wight police said: "There is no wider risk or threat to the local community.
"We would like to thank the local community for their patience while we dealt with this incident."
