A POLICE officer, who delivered donated medical equipment to a Bosnian hospital, spoke about his experiences at an evening of light- hearted talks on serious topics.
PC George Palmer spoke at the Bromley United Nations Association event at St Augustine's Church, in Southborough Lane.
The 43-year-old, who is based at Eltham Police Station, spoke about driving a van four times to a hospital in Brcko in eastern Bosnia to deliver medical equipment donated by drugs companies and hospitals. PC Palmer told the audience how his service as a UN policeman in Bosnia in 1999 opened his eyes to the extent of the country's deprivation.
Other speakers included ffinlow Costain, the director of the UN Adopt-A-Minefield campaign, and Keith Hindell, the former UN correspondent for the BBC World Service, who spoke about poverty in Afghanistan.
